Tag, I’m ‘It’!

Two days ago, my little blog was nominated by the awesome Emiel van den Boomen, author of this cool travel blog called Act of Traveling (and yes, by cool, I mean go check it out), to be part of Tripbase’s ‘My 7 Links’ project. Woohoo! And just so you know, I’m really trying to control my excitement here, so I don’t end up throwing confetti outside my window. But, just in case, I’m giving my apologies in advance to all who might walk home with little colorful slips of paper on their heads.

For months now, the said project has brought together hundreds of different types of bloggers from all over the world together to share the best of their blogs to the rest of the globe. It’s the biggest long-distance party of the blogsphere, and I’m definitely honored to have been invited to join in.

Many have already been tapped to play in this game of tag, and now, it’s my turn to be the ‘it’. Are you ready? Let’s go!

My most beautiful post – 10 Years Later: Remembering 9/11

The tragedy broke my heart. The stories moved me. 10 years later, I find myself writing the most heartfelt post that I’ve ever written in my 17 months of blogging. This tribute just captured so much of how my heart wanted to reach out, and I think that genuineness is what made this post more beautiful than the rest that are in this blog.

Gone but not forgotten.

My most popular postThe Pottermore Experience: What’s in Store For You?

Technically, if we base this category on the number of views, my post on The Annoying Orange would be more fitting (at 6,568 views). However, I’d like to base the winner for this category on the post that caught more attention in terms of comments. With 24 comments and 1,261 views in total, I’d say that this post is definitely the most popular. And not to boast or anything, this post was found to be (and still is, I think) on the first page of Google search when the phrase “pottermore earn points” is typed in the search box. I mean, no big deal, right?

Add me as HazelSilver142.

My most controversial postOsama Bin Laden’s Dead, Now What?

I find this to be the most controversial such that I think this post is not quite something people will simply nod their heads to after reading. It’s a very sensitive issue, and my stand may not necessarily be everybody else’s stand. I am assuming that there have been many opposing views and reactions on the death of the world’s most dangerous terrorist, and writing about what the “right” reaction and way to take it is not the easiest for me and not the most agreeable for certain people.

“I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy.” (Martin Luther King, Jr.)

My most helpful postDreaming of Space Travel? Think You’re Ready For It?

Not everyone gets to meet an astronaut everyday. I have only met one once, and having the privilege to do so does not mean I should keep what I’ve learned to myself. This particular post is about Dr. Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor’s talk on his experience of space travel aboard the Soyuz TMA-11. It features some of the “training activities” before the actual space trip and a peek into life aboard a spaceship, and let me tell you this: it’s no easy thing.

Even fishes get confused in space.

A post whose success surprised meCharice on Glee Next Season?

Charice Pempengco on Glee? Maybe Not

When I released this post on the 27th of June 2010, I thought it was going to be like any other post I wrote for Glee or for any other celebrity – getting a couple of views or so and a comment or two if I’m lucky. But, I was caught off guard when at the end of the following day, June 28, the views for this post alone were at 438 and the total comments at 15. Whoa! That was insane! It just proves that Charice got a large army behind her – good job girl!

So, whatever happened to Sunshine Corazon?

A post I feel didn’t get the attention it deservedDitch Being Selfish: Don’t Be A Bully

Bullying is a large issue that the world faces today, and it’s important to be aware and to fight against it. I am a strong advocate of anti-bullying campaigns because I believe that everyone, no matter the race, the appearance, or gender, should be given an opportunity to live their lives freely. No one should tell anyone how they should dress or talk or walk. This particular post is really about that, and I would have wanted this post to have more exposure in order to reach out to more people to help fight bullying. I guess I’ll have to “advertise” it more (help me by sharing, yes?).

There are more who care than those who hate and more who appreciate than discriminate in this world.

The post I’m most proud ofBecause I Was Born This Way, Baby

I love this post simply because I am able to make a statement (and hopefully inspire): to stay true to oneself and be proud of one’s uniqueness. It speaks of loving oneself despite the hate around, and through this post, I am reminded of that. I’m reminded to stand up for what I believe in and for who I am, and I’m proud to be able to share such a thought with my readers.

I’m proud of this post as I am proud to say that I am who I am.

And there go my 7 links! Now it’s time to pass the ball project along and tag some of the amazing bloggers around the blogsphere to share their own 7 links. They are…

Stephanie Au of Life Tastes Like Food

Selma Sergent of Selma in the City

Tiam Dang of Eat to Love

Rosemarie John of Travel and Beyond

Hi Emiel! I wouldn’t want my neighbors or some random people walking outside my window to sue me for throwing confetti. Or wait, is there such a law against throwing confetti? If not, I’m ready to throw now. Better late than never!

Thank you so much for the compliments! I’m hopeful that my blog will grow more in the years to come! Cheers! 🙂
