Charice on Glee Next Season?

It started out as some random rumor that sent people (especially Filipinos) reacting wildly, both in good and in bad ways. Fans of the young Filipino singing sensation felt so happy and excited for her while her haters let out gasps and words of disbelief and, you guessed it, hatred upon the release of the “report” that stated Charice’s participation the second season of what is the world’s favorite TV musical today, Glee.

Charice Pempengco on Glee? Maybe Not

And with that first internet wildfire, looks like the haters got their prayers answered. Charice even denied the “news” herself by tweeting that it was all just a hoax. Must have been a moment of rejoice for all the people who dislike her out there and one of disappointment for her biggest supporters.

But, not for long.

Just a week ago, the tables were turned, and it looks like this time Charice Pempengco is joining Glee for real. She made the auditions (that’s no shocker, really), and we heard she’s playing Rachel Berry’s newest rival on the show. In terms of singing, of course. Now that’s what I would call a hot competition! Looks like we’ve got some explosive showdown to look forward to in the next season! It’s the clash of two singing divas!

Careful Rachel, you might lose that star.

What will Rachel do now that some foreign exchange student signed up as her new challenger? Will Charice only steal the singing spotlight of Rachel or will she also steal the latter’s man? Well, we heard she’s going to catch the eye of one of the boys. We’re just not sure if it’s Finn. But for all we know, it might be Finn. Looks like we’re about to see Rachel unleash her rage.

When all is lost...

But, I’m guessing the guy won’t be Finn. I don’t know. I just like Charice to end up with Mike Chang (also known as “the other Asian”). And it would be very predictable too if the guy was Finn or Puck. Right? (Or Charice could be dating Jesse…?)

Rachel and Finn is a couple that shouldn't be broken... again!

But, the real question that’s surrounding this news isn’t what character Charice is going to play or how will Rachel react to Charice’s presence and performance but how will the audience respond to this new character. Will Glee get a positive response or a negative one? Will the ratings go higher or lower while Charice is the guest star? As we know, most people in the United States actually love her because of her outstanding performances in different events (such as the Oscar’s) and of course, during the inauguration of President Barack Obama.

However, the case is not the same with her fellow Filipinos. She may have many supporters, but she’s also got plenty of haters back in her hometown. And Glee has a lot viewers from the Philippines, so will Charice’s appearance rock the show’s boat? I’ve heard a few people say that they’re no longer excited for Glee’s next season because of her, but I’ve also heard some that the casting of Charice is giving them more reason to watch this coming September.

I’m no fan of Charice, but I’m no hater as well.

So, with or without Charice, I’m just excited for the second season of Glee.

My only opinion is: Glee made a risky decision when they decided to put Charice on the show.

Well, what about you? What do you think?

Do you want her on Glee or the show’s better off without her?

With the way some Charice fans act on the net, I have a feeling that their overzealousness might lead to the show to have lower ratings. On the other hand, the episodes featuring Charice might have an increase in viewers especially if Oprah mentions Glee on her show.

The reason she was hated by other Filipinos is because of extreme jealousy. Their ideal person is somewhat light skin, tall and born to rich family. Then came along an insanely talented girl from a very poor broken family. Humble and with a passion for singing, helping her single mom. She have risen from poverty and the more they are consumed to bring her down. These people, mostly young ones are the same people that voted her out of the Little Big Star because she is not beautiful and rich enough to win even. They are so consumed by jealousy and hate that they are willing to make their country the laughing stock f the world. These are sick people with no redeeming social values and no values added to the society.

Absolutely….Charice is a great addition to the cast of GLEE. If the creators of the show want to whet the appetite of fans and drum up more viewers especially those of Asian ethnicity, adding new and interesting charaters that a lot of people can relate too is a brilliant move. Right now, no one else is more talented and exciting than Charice. Her voice is phenomenal. She has fans whose age ranges from 7 to 90 years old. Can you imagine how many more will tune in to Glee. I, for one, will not miss an episode in season 2. I have not been an avid fan, but I am now with Charice in it.

I think the next season of Glee would be explosive as I think that the glee club will start their winning streak. With the voices of Lea and Charice combined in one performance, together with Mercedes and the rest of the glee club members, they’re gonna be the best underdog ever! They are just gonna start beating their oppressors! And that’s what makes it exciting to watch, the story (of how) from being loosers then going up to the top. Because who would want to be loosers forever, nobody! And the addition of Charice being somebody who would challenge the leadership of Lea is something to watch out for. But supporters of Lea should not worry too much, as this is what makes the show exciting, and this is what would make Lea be better than herself now.

I believed this is the very best decision that Glee Management ever made. I believed that the story for next season 2 was already written and the main focused of the story was Rachel’s rage and a big competition in singing. The character of the person who will put Rachel in a serious singing competition should be competitive and should be a great singer as well. Glee staff saw that to Charice and its a perfect in any aspect for the show. Charice has acting experience as well way back 2 years ago in the Phil but anyway i know some casts of Glee don’t have acting experience as well. So acting is no problem for Charice and yes of course singing is really no problem as well. To the haters of Charice i don’t know why you hate her but Charice is only 18 years old and already helping poor kids in the World vision. How about you are you also doing this?

I’m really positive once Charice be in that Glee show it will raise the viewers 10 times or more. Don’t estimate small packages. Most of the times in small packages tha’s were you find expensive and valuble gift.

I think that its time for Rachel to graduate HS. She is turning 24 years old in August while Charice just turn 18. It’s not fair to compare them since both are very talented in their own rights! I’m not a die hard Glee fan so I don’t watch it regularly but now I’m interested to see the full second season!

My opinion : Viewership and most likely ratings will SKYROCKET for the next season. It reminds me of Charice’s Eaton Centre performance in Toronto where management was expecting only 500 to 1000 people to arrive. 6000 people showed up.

Of course, let us wait till next season is over, then we can compare numbers.

I have a feeling too that ratings will soar like crazy once she joins Glee, but yes, I think we should wait until her appearances are over before we can make a conclusion. Thanks for sharing your opinion Jianee! πŸ™‚

don’t be fooled by those “loud minority” they don’t even have antyhign to back their claims that charice is hated back in her home country

her 2 Star Records album became platinum and her album last year became the best selling album in 2009, and her international album “Charice” from WEA is still #1 in album sales since the day of release (May 11, 2010), you can check the details in Odyssey Music Store or Astrovision/Astroplus

in regards to Glee, for sure it will benefit both, the rating will still be higher, i doubt those hater will not watch Glee, if they do watch Glee. These people will still watch Glee, to find faults on Charice, that’s their life, a life full of hatred… and for those charice fans that don’t watch Glee, for sure they will all be excited to see the next season..
btw, view counts in the Phil will not reflect or affect Glee’s rating and Glee will always be Glee, just that this time it will be Glee with Charice… and many people are happy about it

as for me, I will just watch the ep in YT, the show is not available in Middle East, hope someone record the show for us

But can I also point out that those haters are not the majority. But still just a very loud minority. A lot of people from her home country are actually happy and very proud of her being cast in Glee. In fact, she is personally chosen by the new President of the Philippines to sing in his inauguration this June 30th, 2010.
Not a risky decision but a very good addition. She has fans from all over the world, so Glee would now only get a bigger audience. She is a very talented vocalist, who can tackle any genre, so it’s never been a question of her talent. And I think the producers know what they are doing for they auditioned the girl themselves too. Besides they said, she will just have multiple appearance as a recurring role. But the focus would still be on the leads more than ever.
So it’s all good! I myself very much welcome and is so excited for her to be on Glee. Can’t wait actually!

I agree that there’s no questioning when it comes to her talent. She’s no doubt one of the most talented girls out there. I mean, hands down, she can make anyone’s jaw drop when she sings. However, it can’t also be denied that there are many people (maybe not as much as people who adore her) who think that all this fame is getting to her head, so they’re not in full support of her. I think we should wait for the end of her appearances on the show before we can put a conclusion to whether casting her was a good decision or not.

All I can say for now is continue supporting Charice and enjoy the second season of Glee!

      Cheers! πŸ™‚
