It was a tearjerking moment for American Idol last season when probably the most loved (or hated) judge, Simon Cowell, spent his last night at the judges’ table. Even though his criticisms sometimes make you want to hit him in the head, you’ve gotta admit that he’s one of the reasons why the reality competition is an interesting watch and is (almost) everyone’s favorite. With his absence, you know something big has disappeared from the show.
Together with Simon, singer-songwriter Kara DioGuardi exited the show after two seasons of witnessing small aspiring singers grow into international singing superstars challenge after challenge. And the line of judges leaving Idol did not end there as host Ellen Degeneres resigned after just one season of fooling around with Simon and seeing Lee and Crystal battle it out for the top spot in the season finale. What a way to end the 9th season, judges!
Now that the new season’s set to premiere in four months, somebody’s got to fill in those empty seats next to the all-alone Randy Jackson who’s been around since the start of American Idol. And who have just been hired? J. Lo? Steven Tyler? Yes, you heard that right! The Latina actress-singer- turned-businesswoman and Aerosmith’s frontman are the latest replacements in the panel of judges.
So, will Jenny from the block leave the block and go all out on her comments? Will the lead singer of Aerosmith tell the contestants that they got a sweet emotion or that they should just dream on? Will the two new judges be the new Kara and the new Simon or will they bring a new sizzle to Idol? Well, I still think that American Idol will not be American Idol without Simon Cowell around, but who am I to say, right? So, how is the show going to turn out with a switch from four to three new judges in the panel in its 10th season? There’s only one way to find out, and that is to tune in on January 12 next year!
What do you think of the new judges? Do you like them or do you like Kara, Simon, and Ellen better? Be sure to tell me what you think in the comments section below. 🙂
