(6) Christmas Dinner Delights

Good food. Good wine. Good ol’ friends and family around a good ol’ dinner table. Those are definitely good times that you spend every Christmas Eve. But, why not upgrade the Christmas experience from good to special?

Christmas is a season of get together, of reunions, and a celebration of intimacy where people revive beautiful relationships that were almost stagnant during the year due to their busy daily lives. It’s that time of the year when family members and friends, near and far, gather together to feast on stuffed turkeys as one big group of people who are thankful for the gift of each other.

Christmas brings people closer than ever as they toast to delicious wines and eat through a hearty dinner while exchanging hilarious and heartwarming stories by the fireplace. Ain’t that lovely and delightful?

So, to get that special Christmas dinner celebration going, why not try out a new Christmas dish recipe this year? Instead of serving that roasted maple-glazed stuffed turkey again, why not infuse it with some new sizzling flavors for you and your guests to savor? Prepare a dessert dish fresh from your collection of cookbooks. Be wild and creative. Unleash your artsy fartsy side in concocting your own version of a beautiful and tasty Christmas dinner.

Since, as you might have already noticed, it’s only 6 days to Christmas, here are 6 Christmas dishes which you might find to be very appetizing. You might want to try these out and along the way, give them a little of your own flavor or presentation twist.

1. Pan-seared Duck Breast with Blueberry Sauce

Season this usually bland piece of tender meat with the sweet tanginess of blueberry sauce, pair it up with a scoop of mashed potatoes on the side, and top it off with some thyme or mint leaves and voila! You’ve got a dish oozing with rich and juicy flavors blending perfectly inside your mouth.

Treat your taste buds to a food wonder with this Christmas meat dish. Again, don’t forget to experiment with it by mixing in a few other tastes (maybe spices?) or substituting raspberry or cranberry sauce for blueberry sauce. It’s your call.

2. Carrot Soufflé

Healthy and unhealthy at the same time – this dessert is just superb! Let the vegetative goodness of carrots fuse with the overly sweet taste of the caramelized sugar in your mouth. Prepare this delicious-looking French dessert in mini cups for individual consumption of you and your family and serve it probably with some chocolate garnish on top for an added look and taste. Remind everyone of the sweetness of the Christmas spirit with this great recipe. You might want to try it out using some other vegetable aside from carrots and see how it turns out. But, at the end of it all, just sit down and enjoy your creamy soufflé!

3. Lamb and Winter Vegetable Stew

Enjoy a bowl of this warm soup filled with so much goodness – some soft slices or cubes of lamb and tasty vegetables. Enjoy the richness of the thick gravy-like soup as you eat this with white rice on the side or slices of baguette or dinner rolls. Feel the lamb and vegetable juices being pressed out into your mouth with every chew. Oh, how delicious is that? Mmm… yummy!

You can find the recipe to this flavorful dish here.

4. Five Cup Salad

This is probably the easiest dish to prepare as you only need to throw in five ingredients which will produce a randomly awesome taste as one entity. Explore your food creativity and amaze your guests with the result. You can pick your favorite fruits, mix it with some milk or cream, and add marshmallows or M&Ms. Make it an explosive one! Mix and match those ingredients and wow your guests! Enjoy your concoction!

5. Roasted Brussels Sprouts

Looking for the perfect side dish to serve on the Christmas dinner table? Worry no more because roasted brussels sprouts is the answer to your side dish dilemma! It’s sweet and it’s salty; it’s weird and it’s tasty. This dish is just so odd that it would cause you to keep wanting for more with that first bite.

Sprinkle some cashews, pecans, or sesame over your roasted brussels sprouts for an additional star on presentation. You can also try roasting it with some other vegetables for more flavor varieties. This is a really healthy and delicious way to enjoy a Christmas dinner, so I really, really approve of this recipe!

6. Meringue Mushrooms

Adorable, huh? Well, they are! Add to that, these little cute mushrooms taste super sugary – perfect to satisfy your sweet tooth this Christmas time. Instead of just baking common Christmas tree and snowman cookies for after dinner snacks, why not present your guests with these little mushrooms?

Decorate these white meringues with cinnamon or chocolate powder, and devour one in a mouthful. Yum, yum, yum! This is my personal favorite Christmas dessert because I just love the way the meringue melts in my tongue and how I can still feel the sugary taste even after the whole meringue’s gone. What makes these meringues more delightful is how they stand altogether like mushrooms in a field on a tray while being served. You should definitely give this a try this Christmas, like I’m really, really pushing you to make at least a tray of these. It’s a truly wonderful eating experience, trust me! I hope you try some new recipe splendor this Christmas and make the get together more special. 🙂 Remember, be creative!
