Your Voice, Your Choice: This Is People’s Choice Awards 2011

Forget about the movie critics and the TV show experts because the first big awards show of the year is all about you (us) fans! Now on its 37th year, People’s Choice Awards once again recognizes the effort of the entertainment industry through the votes of the general public. The decision to whom the trophies will be handed to lies in your hands, so it’s really about fan effort in giving their favorite stars all the support that they need to get hold of that prized award.

People’s Choice Awards is all about the battles of fandom. Whose group of aficionados show more love for their idol? Who will reign supreme after all the votes are cast? Whose name and which shows do the crowd screams to win? Who is really the fan favorite?

Last night, the show got all fired up as it celebrates its 37th season in the business at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles where it welcomed all nominated celebrities to a night of style and glamor and kept all voters and viewers at an excitement cliff. Who is going to join fifth-time host Queen Latifah up on that beautiful stage and receive an award with a thankful heart?

Katy Perry with her prized trophies

Twilight probably sent all its supportive fans into a frenzy as it bagged a total of 4 trophies, making it the biggest winner of the season, while Katy Perry has proven herself to be everyone’s favorite California girl as she brought home 2 wins. Fireworks, anyone? Glee also proves how much of a crowd-pleaser it is with 2 wins as well.

Well, looks like the fans have spoken. And here are what they’ve got to say.

Congratulations to all the winners of 2011 People’s Choice Awards! Keep up the good work and you’re sure to get another round of nominations (and even victories) next year! And don’t forget to thank all your fans who probably abused their mouses just to click on your name on the polls a gazillion times! A note or a video of your gratitude is enough to make them smile and make them feel that their votes were truly worth it! Remember, without them, you are not a star. Without them, you’re not celebrated. So, say “thanks” and acknowledge their efforts.

And for all of you fans out there, how did your voting skills fare? Did you get your favorite stars their trophies or do you still need to work on your fan support for next year’s People’s Choice Awards? Whether your idol won or not, I know you had fun being excited for them and being part of the jury for an awards show.

So, how many of your bets won? Who did you support? Share them in the comments section below.

*As for me, 17 of my bets won out of the 44 categories. Pretty much glad about that result.
